Programming began in 2012, but it was minimal because of on-going Phase 1 construction. With Phase 1 complete in 2014 – programs became year-round. They have included…

A Summer Program (2014) for school children – ages 6-years to 21-years – with disabilities, allowing them to participate in social skills training, adaptive physical education, and therapeutic horseback riding/adaptive bike riding/climbing wall activities.

The Café Programs: Making Food & Friends (2014) provides teens and adults with autism and cognitive difficulties a safe place to have fun with friends while learning skills that increase independence.

Saturday CREW (2017) for teens/young adults every other week focusing on developing friendships using therapeutic recreation and interpersonal skill building games.

Project Sunshine (2024) is for high school students, primarily with autism. Sessions host a dozen participants incorporating exercise, art projects, and baking (brownies, etc.).

Social Outings (2024/2025) gives participants the opportunity to generalize skills they’ve learned at the Laura Center to real life community settings. Outings include apple picking, restaurant visits, bowling, etc.

Other programs (running less frequently): FINS (swim lesson for those with autism); Guardian Angels Support Group for parents; and Game Night for teens/young adults with cognitive issues
