About the CourseRunners at the start of the race.

The 8K course starts at Sunset Beach on Purity Lake. It follows the dirt access road for approximately 200 meters then bears right to gain a single track trail above the north shore of the lake. After approximately 1.5 km, it crosses a footbridge and passes a beach volleyball court. It continues south along Ferrin Brook through an underpass below Route 153. Once out of the underpass, the course turns left (east) at the ball field to cross the East Madison Road. It continues right (west) behind four tennis courts and up a steep single track through Camp Tohkomeupog on the south side of East Madison Road. It then follows single track around a street hockey ring and up the Deer Trail for approximately 1 km to the top of Mount Tohkomeupog past a log cabin. At this point, runners will reach the highpoint where there’s a beautiful view overlooking Bald Ledge, the Bluffs at Danforth Bay and Ossipee Lake. There will be a water station.

It’s now time to head down the mountain, and the course continues on the Tower Trail where there are a few clearly marked trail junctions (Runners must stay on the Tower Trail). After a little less then 1 km, it joins Purity Spring’s Cross Country Ski Trail System and follows a trail west back to the East Madison Road. Runners will cross the road and go back through the underpass, along Ferrin Brook. Once over the footbridge, head right (east) along Audubon Trails. Follow the marked trail around the north shore of the marsh. Eventually the trail joins the access road. Take a left (west) and follow the road for less then 1 km and then left (south) back onto the Audubon Beaver Trail. Follow this back to the North Shore of Purity Lake and follow the trail right (west) back to Sunset Beach. The last 200 meters are along the access road. The trail will be well marked with blue survey tape.

Enjoy it!
