Self-regulation Development: Support Strategies to Decrease Disruptive Behavior
Presenter: Terese (Tess) Dana, M.S., BCBA
Tess Dana, M.S., BCBA received her master’s degree in Educational Psychology. She currently consults in schools in three states, helping students improve their social, emotional and behavioral skills. Ms. Dana is the creator of the Fitting In and Having Fun Video Modeling Series and the File Factor Emotional Empowerment System. She is an education consultant for Didi Lightful, an animated children’s series. Ms. Dana presents workshops both nationally and internationally. Her work has appeared on National TV, in The New York Times and in the Autism Sourcebook.
Workshop Description:
Regulating emotions to successfully respond to life’s everyday challenges is a key building block to academic and social success. For many students, this skill set needs to be explicitly taught and supported. In this workshop, specific behavior management techniques that focus on problem prevention and defusing emotionally charged situations will be introduced. Practical, easy to implement, evidenced-based methods will be discussed and practiced. Each attendee will receive an emotional empowerment wall pocket system that can be incorporated into their classroom.
Learning Objectives for Participants:
- Learn how to implement a visually supported self-regulation system
- Identify strategies to prevent challenging behaviors
- Identify key components of successful behavior intervention plans
Location: The Laura Adaptive Recreation Center, 1014 Eaton Road, Madison, NH 03849
Time: 9 AM to 2:30 PM
Cost: The $120 fee includes light breakfast and LUNCH, and attendees take home the File Factor Emotional Empowerment System.
***Attendees will receive an attendance certificate for a 4.5-hour workshop.
